About Me, Mercedes Jones, Belly Dancer. First of all, I chose this name as my dance name…. I wanted to have a name that described that part of me that wants to dance until I drop. So, when I hear the music, when I say the name, I get to step into that part of me that seeks the mysteries through dance. My real name is Linda Hughes.
I am your average gal from a wonderful, loving family – immediate and extended. My mom and dad have been my heroes and role models always. They have shown me how to love, have given me a deep appreciation of learning, of being willing to experiment, of becoming who I want to become. And as that has changed over the years, they have still stood by me in patient bemusement.
I am the oldest of 6, 5 girls and 1 boy. My mom gave me the nickname “Head Snot” when I was growing up, because I was always taking charge of things – whether I was quallified to do so or not.
Hmmm, yes that has been a recurring pattern.
I have been married to my first and only love, Chuck Hughes for 33 years now. We have spent 20 of those years being business partners. That has been a wild and crazy ride! We have 2 young adult children, Kate and Charlie – and of course they are beyond extraordinary. In all seriousness, they really are!
I love vigorous, extreme workouts – anything that is physically challenging. I also like to take this same body and create mystical, magical movements with it – bending, twisting, shaking and shimmying to heavy drum beats and exotic melodies. I am constantly amazed by the human body and what it is capable of – what an incredible machine we get to live in.
I also am constantly amazed at the machinery between our ears. If we think it, it can become real. Any thing… any thing we want to happen…. can. It’s not easy, it’s not always fun, but, if we want it we can have it.
In addition to hard workouts and dancing, I love entrepreneurs – their inquisitive minds, fighting spirit & that persistence that moves mountains! It is my life mission and absolute passion to be a hands on, in the trenches, resource to entrepreneurs. Their individual successes will really truly determine our collective and global success. It is imperative that we as a global society encourage, nurture and support each and every one of them.
So, you will always find me between the board room, the gym and the dance floor. What a great life that makes. Come and join me on the dance floor!
